Boys' Basketball Wins MBIL DII Championship

In a hard fought game, the Boys’ Varsity Basketball team defeated number-one seeded Covenant Christian Academy to win the 2018 MBIL DII Boys’ Basketball League Championship. The Chargers entered the tournament as a number-two seed, earning a bye in the first round. The team went on to secure a decisive win vs. Commonwealth School in the semifinals, sending them into the championship game.

The Chargers lost twice to Covenant Christian Academy during the regular season and were ready for redemption. The championship game remained close throughout the first half with the Chargers down by four heading into the second half. With six minutes to go in the game, the Chargers pulled ahead by nine and were able to hang onto the lead and finish out the game with a final score of 55-52.

It was a team effort in every sense with eight different players scoring for the Chargers. Cameron S. ‘20 lead the way with 20 points and Stephen Z. ‘21 had 12 points, including seven during a second half run that gave the Chargers a lead they would not relinquish.

Congratulations and GO CHARGERS!
