Counseling, Health, and Wellness

Health Center

At Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School, we prioritize the health and well-being of our students by providing evidence-based nursing care. Two registered nurses staff our Health Center, along with one Athletic Trainer for our student-athletes, ensuring all students have comprehensive and timely access to healthcare resources. Our health team renders services including, but not limited to, identification of health problems, preventative health education, health maintenance, medication administration, physician referral, and first aid.

Counseling Center

Our counseling team, centrally located in the Allen Health and Wellness Center, is composed of three full-time licensed clinicians and an annual rotation of clinical interns — all available for drop-in sessions, milieu support, and short-term counseling. We appreciate that a cornerstone of effective counseling is meaningful rapport and trust, as such every new student meets with a member of the counseling team during their first trimester on campus. These initial meetings provide an opportunity to start to build that essential connection, while also ensuring that all students know that we are a ready resource and how they can access us. In addition to our direct work with students, we welcome the chance to partner with families and, when endorsed, collaborate with a student’s existing outside providers in order to complement any longer term work taking place outside of school. In an effort to help students access their academic day with minimal disruption, we are also happy to partner with families to help coordinate the logistics of accessing telehealth sessions during the academic day, and offer referrals when appropriate.

Health & Wellness Curriculum

At CH-CH, we are committed to providing responsive and intentional counseling support to our students. We also believe it is imperative for us to complement those efforts with proactive Wellness education. Our ever-evolving Wellness programming encompasses multi-week Wellness courses delivered by grade-level, guest speakers, and outside experts - all delivered with the intent to engage students in conversation on the issues that are central to their social, emotional, and academic development. Though courses are required for all grades, we work hard to provide an element of choice in specialized content areas as our students near graduation.
