From Harrington Hall to South Hall

As I walk around reflecting on my past years, the life of being a boarder is the first thing that comes to mind. The late nights spent talking to your roommate, the long discussions you have with your dorm parent, and the small things, like snowball fights on a snow day. Being a boarder, you create a strong relationship with your dorm parents and other boarders, leaving you with long lasting memories while the dorm becomes your home away from home.

For my first two years, I lived in Harrington Hall with unforgettable dorm parents. I reflect on memories of baking after study hall and movie nights that turned into sleepovers in the lounge, as we enjoy laughter on a day to day basis. It was as if I had never left home, but instead I had just moved and become a bigger family. As a junior this school year, I had to move to South Hall. Afraid that my memories would fade, I wasn’t too eager.

Anxiety took over when it was time to move into South Hall with new dorm parents - but I soon realized that there was nothing to be anxious about! The dorm parents were eager to make you feel welcomed. We cook, watch movies, and have regular conversations with our dorm parents, making us more comfortable with every day. Just as the dorm parents in Harrington Hall became second parents to me, so did those in South Hall this school year. The relationships I had with each dorm parent at Harrington Hall never faded, and ‘til this day, I still feel as though they are my second parents, advising me from a far.
